Sec 3 E/ N(A) Straits Times Reflection Week 6
Article: “Government acts to curb younger smokers” (Pg A1 & A4)
Questions:
What are some measures by the government to curb smoking?
some measures by the government to curb smoking involve putting people suffering from cancer on the packets to serve as a warning. There are also ways such as banning smoking in public areas, increasing the price of cigarettes and banning contraband cigarettes altogether. The designated smoking areas are limited throughout the island, and many coffee shops disallow smoking within their premises.
How successful do you think these measures would be?
Support your answer with reasons.
I do not think that these measures would be successful; if they were, Singapore would already be a smoker-free country. The problem arises when people try to smuggle illegal cigarettes into the country, or teenagers try to get past the rules.

1) Pg 4: Her world’s a stage
Reflection Questions:
Do you consider yourself an artistic person?
I consider myself to be a slightly artistic person as I do enjoy viewing artworks, although I appreciate art in all aspects. i feel that art is easy to express and a very creative way to let loose of your emotions.
What are your opinions of the theatre scene in Singapore?
I think that the theatre scene in Singapore is quite creative, as the artists have many original pieces of work. They can also come up unexpected, yet flashy artworks to entertain Singaporeans.
2) Pg 10: Drink-and-Eat MRT Riders on the rise
Reflection Question:
How do you feel about MRT commuters eating and drinking blatantly on the train?
I feel that commuters eating on the train are very inconsiderate, as they might accidentally spill the food on the train and make it uncomfortable for the other passengers. If they get hungry on the train, they could just wait for the train to alight before eating their food.
also, they are selfish, as they do not care about the feelings of those who do not like the smell, if any, of the food they eat. they do not care that the smell might stink up the whole carriage.
